So far, 2025 has not been terribly kind. In addition to the utter confusion and chaos of a new administration, my oldest son left home for an internship 700 miles away, influenza A hit our household with a vengeance, and, well, January is just plain hard. Maybe you can relate. At a time when days are short and light is at a premium, I’m looking for whatever good news I can scrounge.
Today, my good news comes in the form of book news. I get to share the new title and cover for my fall ‘25 release! Pub day is a long way off, but I’m ecstatic all the same. I love this book so much, and I hope that you’ll love it, too.
Want to make a huge difference in the life of this book? Add it to your Goodreads shelf, or (better yet!) pre-order it. Pre-orders make a huge difference as publishers try to determine print runs and project sales. (I’m a big Bookshop.org fan as the site supports indie bookstores, but unfortunately Where He Left Me is not live on their site yet. It will be soon! Stay tuned.)
Thanks for reading, friends. xoxo - Nicole
From Nicole Baart, the bestselling author of Everything We Didn’t Say, comes a twisty, atmospheric suspense novel about a newlywed whose husband disappears, leaving her isolated in Washington’s North Cascades.
Newlywed Sadie Sheridan hates Hemlock House, her husband Felix’s family home deep in the heart of the North Cascades. The homestead is old and creepy at the best of times, but when Felix never returns from a business trip it becomes downright menacing.
Stranded alone on a mountain as an unexpected storm bears down, Sadie struggles to make sense of what her missing astronomer husband left behind. Forced to confront two mysterious trespassers and worsening conditions, Sadie must face not only her fears and insecurities, but the truth about her husband and his secretive past. Did she ever really know the man she married? And is she fighting only for her own survival now—or for the man who promised her the stars?
Where He Left Me is another compelling, emotional thriller from an author who“writes with a poet’s eye for language and a storyteller’s gift for suspense” (William Kent Krueger, New York Times bestselling author).
